A 24 week Bumpdate!
A few days late on this 24 week bumpdate post as we are actually inching closer and closer to the 25 week mark. Where is the time going?! I can’t believe in a few short weeks we will be in the final trimester. Insert panic!
Instead of a dragged out Instagram caption I thought I’d do a mini update over here. I know the pregnancy stuff isn’t for everyone, but for those who have started to follow along strictly on that regard, this one’s for you!
Things have been much better than before- although to be honest, I think it’s a total hoax when people say you feel amazing in your second trimester. I think what they mean to say is that you feel normal again. You feel like your old self (minus a few lingering symptoms!) It definitely took me a while to get here. If you remember from my 20 week post, I only started to feel well around the 20 week mark.
Regardless of what I’m feeling, I’m happy to take it all as I am so excited for what is to come this summer! I’ve been feeling kicks since week 18 and lately there’s been so much movement as the the little guy tosses and turns. I love every part of that sensation- it’s the strangest thing to feel!
Here’s a quick rundown on how everything else is going:
Symptoms:
Like I said, fairly ok on this front although I get nosebleeds on a daily basis. They luckily only last a few minutes for the most part but they’re still a little on the annoying side! My nurse and doctor say it’s normal so it’s nothing I’m concerned about.
My back pain is still there and I really can’t see it going away. It usually starts up around 5/6pm so if I cancel dinner plans on you, you now know why! It gets worse around bedtime which is another issue entirely. I’m so uncomfortable! Once again, something I think will only get worse. I can usually sleep through the night once I fall asleep though, so not to bad all things considering.
Weight Gain:
I’ve gained 3-4 pounds more than I wanted to so far but I’m trying not to let that really bother me. It is what is and as long as I eat in moderation and go on walks, there’s not much else I can do! I used to run a lot for cardio purposes but my doctor recommended I stop around the 11 week mark so it’s been a mental struggle to see parts of my body besides my belly getting bigger 😉
Home Renovations:
Because life is a little hectic these days we went ahead and actually hired a designer to take care of the bathroom reno for us. Since we designed everything else in the house ourselves (with a little help of course) I am a little nervous! I’m still going to be apart shopping process so that eases my nerves a bit 😉 We’ll be getting the final plans next Tuesday and then it’s a mad rush to purchase what we need and get the bathroom renovated! If all goes well, and even if there’s a delay, we still have a buffer of a few weeks!
A lot of the nursery items have been ordered already so once the bathroom is done it should be a quick weekend job to paint the nursery and decorate. Our dresser and crib are coming fully installed so we save a little time and effort on that front. (I chatted about which crib we ordered last week here!)
Overall feelings
I feel way better than I did before but I’m still a far cry from those ladies who say they had such a great pregnancy. It’s not all cute baby bumps folks! You’re actually growing a human inside of you-it’s a tough job and I don’t think it’s meant to be easy!
I am however starting to get strong feelings of dislike with people trying to rub my belly. Most of the time I’m able to karate chop their arms away but a few people have snuck in there. I don’t mind if say my mom, Ara, or a very very close relative does so. And I don’t mind as much when people ask. But to just assume it’s ok to rub my stomach is not cool with me. There I said it. You’re not actually touching the baby. You’re touching my stomach! People don’t seem to see the difference!
A girlfriend of mine warned me about old ladies in the grocery store so trust me when I say, I’ve got my eyes open wide 😉
My relationship with Ara
Someone asked me about this and I thought it was an interesting question! I feel like our relationship is better than ever! He was already so thoughtful and considerate- now it’s even more so. He volunteers to do laundry, will secretly do the dishes when I’m sleeping and will stay up with me till I fall asleep. Ok so he tries to do the last one 😉 If I’m too tired he automatically volunteers to take care of dinner and if I”m having a bad day, he will take me out of the house to a favourite restaurant or spot. He’s on it folks!
I’m excited and nervous for the next several weeks. It will definitely be fun to start setting up the nursery and finishing up our house renovations! Although I’m confident that I’ll have everything wrapped up by the 36 week mark (my goal!) I’m starting to feel those nerves. I’ve been placing Amazon orders like crazy and spending my down time finalizing all of the baby gear.
