A quick look at 34 weeks pregnant and how things are going as we head into the last few weeks of pregnancy!
It’s crazy that we are already at 34 weeks, which means there’s just 4 weeks left till we are a family of four! It’s also pretty crazy to think about because there is a great chance that this will be my last pregnancy!
I’ll be honest, I’m not one that loves being pregnant. But there’s something kind of sad about knowing that these are the last few weeks I’ll have this experience of growing a baby!
Here’s a quick look at how things are going, and my plans for the next few weeks.
Covid-19
First things first, let’s chat about the biggest thing going on right now! Luckily pregnant women aren’t at a greater risk of developing the virus, which is a great thing. Unfortunately however, the timing couldn’t be worse for me at 34 weeks pregnant. And trust me, I know that I am healthy and lucky to live somewhere where the crisis hasn’t escalated yet (And hopefully it won’t).
But since this is my update, I think I get to make mention of it 😉
- Daycare! You guys saw this on stories but I am crushed that Aren will be out of daycare for 2 weeks. We had been doing so well this last week. Monday he had a rough day but the rest of the week went amazing and on Friday he had no tears at pickup or drop off. I was so happy. I thought we had finally conquered it- and then I got word that daycares will be closed for two weeks. What does this mean for us? Well, by the time Aren starts up again, he’ll have just four weeks to fully be adjusted before baby comes. GOOD LUCK TO ME ha!
- I did have a lot of prep to do in the next few weeks so that is going to be a challenge with him at home. I will have to compromise some of the time Ara and I set aside for each other in the evening so I can get some work done, and take Aren’s nap time to get stuff done around the house.
- Hospital Runs: This is where I am a little more alarmed. I am at the stage where I have constant appointments. My doctor has even scheduled me for a late third trimester ultrasound which happens to be at the hospital. I’m just going to be extra careful during my time there and follow all safety precautions.
Symptoms
At 34 weeks pregnant, there’s a lot of back pain, tons of Braxton Hicks and the lack of ability to sleep at night- the same as every pregnant lady out there!
Once again I think I’m just so busy with Aren that I don’t have a chance to feel pregnant.
The one area where I notice a huge difference from my pregnancy with him however is with nosebleeds. I had a ton of nosebleeds with Aren, so much so that I had special appointments booked for it. This time around I’ve been lucky and have only had a few! Fingers crossed they stay away the rest of the time!
Nursery
Yup, not much to report there. We finally emptied out the guest bedroom and painting starts tomorrow! I’m so excited! Once we paint, his dresser will be assembled.
I’m not too stressed about the the room but I really need it to be painted and for his dresser to be set up. Once that’s done I can finally start organizing his basics. He’ll be using a lot of hand me downs from Aren but I’ve thrown in a few new things as well 😉 What’s the fun of being pregnant if you can’t do a little shopping!
Cravings
All the sweets, all the time. In the beginning of the pregnancy I craved tons of fresh food and while I still do, it’s the sweets that have really taken over. I want cake, brownies, doughnuts, you name it- I want to eat it!
Weight Gain
Haven’t weighed myself in a few weeks but last time I checked I had gained considerably less weight than my first pregnancy. Thank goodness! With Aren I had ended the pregnancy with 39 extra pounds- ok we can call it 40!
With baby #2 it seems to be a lot less and I’m happy about that. Obviously a healthy baby comes first, but after two close pregnancies and prior to that, tons of fertility meds, I’m ready to get my body back to where I feel comfortable and confident.
Stretch Marks
Yup, have those too. Because my stretch marks with Aren were just starting to fade, I actually have no idea which are new stretch marks. Not a priority for me and I really could care less at this point! It’s a small price to pay for carrying a baby and I’m not bothered in the slightest by it.
What’s next
I’ll pack my hospital bag in the next week or two. My gut tells me baby will come early so I want to have it prepared just in case. I’ll be referencing my last hospital bag, which should help streamline the process!
And as I mentioned, I have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. We’ll be looking at baby’s size and seeing if he is looking a little big or not. Aren was a 9 pound vaginal birth so my doctor just wants to see if baby #2 is on a similar track. Fingers crossed he’s not larger because that just sounds scary 😉
And I’ll be doing the final ordering for the rest of the nursery details! It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted but I think I have a good idea of it now so it’s time to start shopping!
Not sure if I’ll be posting another bump date or just waiting till we hit the 40 week mark but you can always follow along on Instagram for more day to day baby news and fun! Thanks for following along!
