Since Aren’s birthday fell on a Saturday this year, and his official kids party was on Sunday (and being the fact that I’m that super extra first time mom), I opted to throw a small lunch for our parents and sisters on the day of his actual birthday. I mean, we had to celebrate somehow!
Aren is obsessed with sharks. Well, cute cartoon sharks that is. Anytime he sees a whale, dolphin or a large blue fish, he instantly assumes it’s some relative of Baby Shark. The kid is obsessed.
Not wanting to go too overboard, I opted for an easy nautical themed lunch with just the right amount of shark. Our cake was made by Sweet Savour by Felicia (she just killed it!!) and of course L&V Sweets made us these beautiful cookies. If their names sound familiar it’s because they made the desserts for our Party Animals Bash! Other than that, I just stuck with some blue and white themed items. No fancy flowers, no balloon garland, just an easy and simple table setting for the family to enjoy!
I used Ikea placemats that I had purchased years ago, some linens from Amazon and just rented these adorable blue cups from Joe’s Prop House here in Montreal. Renting stemware is a really affordable way to give your table that something extra without going overboard on budget!
Full disclaimer, we had to use two tables as we were quite a few people, but for photo purposes you’re just seeing one!!
Needless to say, Aren loved his cake, his balloon and of course those little shark cookies. He was one happy camper and his smile made it all worth it!
