I’m all about the easy fixes and tricks that make you look like an entertaining superstar. Take this donut hole tower for example. It’s so easy to make, with very little cost. It’s leaves virtually no dishes to wash. And it’s just so pretty! Perfect for a sweet table, a brunch or even a bridal shower, it’s sure to impress and make you look like a mini Martha Stewart!
Ever have a craft you wanted to tackle but was nervous it was going to be too much work?! Enter this donut hole tower right here! I’ve always wanted to make one- but it seemed so difficult!
A quick trip to the craft store (and to the donut store!) and I realized that it was actually fairly simple.
These make the prettiest displays at dessert tables- they really are a centrepiece on their own!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own.
based on my cone size of 15 inches.
- Styrofoam cone, like this one here
- Toothpicks (50-60)
- Donut Holes (for my cone I needed about 50-60)
- Flowers for garnish
- Optional: Powdered Sugar
So already cost wise you’re looking at like under 20 dollars including the flowers. Baby’s breath is a great inexpensive filler flower which I just accentuated with some spray roses.
The cones come in a variety of sizes. You can order directly from a manufacturer like Amazon, or you go to a craft store like Michaels. I went to Michaels because I really wanted to take a look at the different sizes! Thie one was in the middle of the pack. The smaller one probably wouldn’t have as much of an impact and the larger one was well, large!
The rest is very easy!
Starting from the bottom, working your way up, insert a toothpick halfway into the cone. Place donut hole directly onto toothpick. Go all around the cone until one row is complete.
Then start with the next row.
As soon as you see a little white space in between the holes, fill it with baby’s breath.
It’s much easier to fill it as you go because once the donuts are in place, it becomes harder to stick the flowers in without getting your hands all over the donuts or worst case, having them fall off.
Go row by row, until you reach the top! Afterward, place a few larger flowers around the cone.
Voila, you’re done. SO easy right?
Here’s a few things to keep in mind for your donut hole tower:
If you think your donut holes are not so attractive (hey it happens depending on what flavour you get or if you make your own!!) gently dust some confectioners sugar all around. This will give it a little bit of a home touch look and perhaps even hide some of the defects!
Of course, make sure to do this before adding the flowers!!
It’s important to go row by row if you want it to look aesthetically pleasing. It’s the only way to make sure that you are optimizing all the donuts and leaving as little white space as possible!
I just love adding store bought donuts to any dessert or brunch table. I mean who doesn’t like donuts!? By being a little creative with them you can make the prettiest displays!

If this is made the night before, do they donuts stay fresh?
G. says
I think if you cover it in saran wrap, it should be fine! They might not taste as fresh as day of donuts but they should still be tasty 😉

What did you use to keep the baby’s breath and flowers on with, I want to make this for a Wedding and will need to transport without loosing the flowers
G. says
Thank you! I just used the actual stem of the flower! But I do think that would fall off in transport. To get them to stick completely I would suggest a glue gun, but that would perhaps be safer prior to adding the donuts on, so would require a little planning on your part! Anyway you can just add the flowers last minute?!

This is beautiful! I have an Event this weekend and want to make this, but I am unsure of how attach the flowers, I dont want them to fall off in transport.
