30 weeks down, only ten to go! A quick update on weeks 27-30!
I feel like once the countdown starts to get into the single digit weeks, things get real, real fast! Even though ten weeks is still a considerable amount of time, it will also fly by. I just know it! We have so much to get done in the next 10 weeks that I’m a little nervous, but ultimately I know that the key things are already in place so that helps a bit.
For the most part things have been on the upside, I actually feel more like myself than ever. Despite my newfound walking technique (waddling from point A to point B), my symptoms are less severe than usual. Of course as I’ve discovered with any week in pregnancy, there’s always a new symptom on the horizon! Read on for the full scoop!
Symptoms
Like I said, feeling a lot better than usual! My back pain is not as terrible as it once was. Nowadays it really only pops up after a long car ride or if I’m sitting in an uncomfortable seat. If I’m on my feet for a long time, I definitely feel it but if I take things easy, my symptoms aren’t that bad.
Still have those nose bleeds (yay) but thankfully I’ve been sleeping a lot better than before.
The last few nights I’ve managed to fall asleep within 15 minutes of heading to bed- a far cry from the 1 to 2 hours it used to take!
Weight Gain
No more crazy cravings means my weigh gain is finally in check! After my surge in weight in my second trimester, things have slowed down and I’m gaining just the right amount every week. I was a little nervous around week 25. I did the math and given how rapidly the weight was sticking to me, I was headed towards a very large number on the scale 😉 As I’ve mentioned before, I’m all for gaining weight that my baby needs. I’ll gladly take it on! But extra weight brought on by chicken fingers and ice cream cravings isn’t good for anyone.
In my second trimester I also felt the need to eat ALL the time but now I’m back to my normal appetite.
Speaking of cravings, I totally wish I had one of those weird pregnancy cravings people talk about but I have yet to experience that!
Bathroom Renovations
Pretty much my only source of stress! We’ve started to get the pieces in and will be finishing up all the shopping this week. The contractor hasn’t started the demo yet so until the first hammer hits the wall I’m a nervous wreck! Truth be told I just need the demo to be done and then I’ll feel a lot better. As I’ve mentioned before, this bathroom shares a wall with the nursery so until the demolition is underway we’re holding off on the painting. If you’ve ever done any home renos while living at home you know just how dusty it gets!!
All the main parts look to be finished up in June so that would still leave us with a full four week buffer. I don’t mind if something small like a towel rack needs to be installed after the baby comes- I just need the messy parts wrapped up asap!
Nursery
All the major things are in and ready to go! Once the demo stage is done, we’ll just throw on a fresh coat of paint and everything will get put in its place (once the room is aired out of course!) I feel like I’ve done a good job getting all the pieces in- furniture, layette, even newborn diapers and wipes!
Our bassinet came in as well, and really for the first 2 months that’s all the baby needs, right?! (well that and milk + diapers!) We’re opting to use the Halo Bassinet Luxe Plus Series– it was my number one pick from the get go and I can’t wait to assemble it later this week. Stay tuned on stories because we will be sharing it there! I also just picked up this adorable hamper for his laundry. It’s so cute it deserved a mention!
Maternity Clothes and Products
I’m still pretty much only using Mama Mio on my belly and I still love it! Disclaimer, I have a few stretch marks that have popped up on my ‘love handle’ area but to be honest I’m not surprised. I’m extremely prone to stretch marks and am shocked that it took this long to see some. They’re mainly faded and not visible to anyone but me, but my knees are covered in stretch marks from previous fluctuations in weight. My belly is still free and clear however and I’m hoping it stays that way! It should be noted that I probably didn’t do the best job using my creams on places other than my belly!
We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks but I’m not overly concerned. My body is doing what it needs to for this baby and that’s good enough for me.
I’m still loving all my dresses. The one I’m wearing in these pictures is from Ingrid and Isabel and it’s the comfiest thing ever. It flows perfectly, makes me look pregnant but not too pregnant, and just feels great. It also comes in a bunch of colors including black, if light colors aren’t your thing!
Overall Feelings
Excited! We’re pretty much in the home stretch which is so crazy. A baby is actually considered full term at 38 weeks so that’s essentially less than 2 months! Like I mentioned above, I’ll feel a sense of calm once our demo is done. But in the meantime I’m still excited and trying to get as much work done as possible. June is to be a very busy month and on top of that I have a whole lot of house cleaning to get through!
The baby moves constantly and it’s transitioned from cute little kicks to somewhat painful maneuverings and punches. It’s such a crazy feeling and probably one of my favourite things about pregnancy (ok, maybe only favourite thing about pregnancy!?). I’ve gone from imagining a tiny fictitious baby in my stomach to feeling an actual 3 1/2 pound baby moving around like crazy. Strange and amazing 😉
I’ll be back around week 34 with another update! In the meantime, make sure to follow along on Instagram for daily stories and baby purchases!
