Looking for a quick and easy last minute party favor? Why not create mini hot cocoa pouches for your friends and family to enjoy! You can probably find most of what you need right in your own house!!Read on for the step by step directions and more photos!
While having party favours isn’t mandatory, I’m always one for the little details and life. An inexpensive favour can be the final element of an otherwise amazing evening or party. It makes the guest feel that extra love, and makes the hostess just look, well, amazing!!
Feeling the burn of the holidays on your wallet is a real thing though.
That’s why this little DIY favour is possibly one of my favourite things ever.
You can make it ahead of time.
You can have the kids involved (or in my case the hubby).
And you can make it as complicated, or as easy as you’d like.
Check, check and check!!
Here’s what you’ll need per bag:
- 3×5 or 4×6 burlap bags
- small plastic baggies (doesn’t have to be with the ziplock as we will cut the tops off)
- string for plastic bags
- 3-4 inches of ribbon per bag
- 2 tbsp cocoa mix
- a small handful of marshmallows (I averaged about 6 per bag)
- fun little spoons (wooden spoons are a great inexpensive option and can be found at the dollar bins at Michaels or Target)
Pour 2 tbsp cocoa mix in plastic bag. Top with marshmallows.
Tie with any string you have lying around the house! Truth be told mine is just butcher’s twine
Cut off the extra plastic on top with a pair of scissors.
Insert plastic baggie in burlap sac.
it’s important to have it in the plastic because it keeps the cocoa sanitary as well as from seeping through the bag!
Tie with a ribbon.
For an extra touch I had the cutest little tags made by Morgane at Papier Velour. Feel free to make them yourself or have a friend with good handwriting take over for you! Either buy Kraft paper tags from a craft store or just cut out little pieces of paper and make a hole with hole punch!
Carefully slide spoon underneath ribbon.
I like to stack them all on a serving plate and place them near the desserts or bar!
If you have additional budget, placing some greenery or flowers underneath is also a great idea!
A huge thanks to Papier Velour for supplying me with these adorable little tags! Make sure to check out her website for loads of inspo! You can also find her on Etsy here and Instagram here
