Hello home office reveal! A full look at our new office space featuring the Réno-Dépôt Eklipse Cabinets!
It’s finally done! It felt like it took forever because of a delay in our countertop, but our home office reveal is finally up! I am so excited to share it with you but I’m more excited to actually work in this space!
In partnership with our friends at Réno-Dépôt, we installed beautiful grey cabinets in our upstairs. The space in question was pretty much dead space- a big open area right down by Shiraz’s bedroom. We knew we were going to tackle an office space there at some point, but with Ara still working from home in our old office space, we thought now was the time.
I opted for a lot of closed cabinets. While I love the look of open shelving, you can actually see the office space when you are down in our living room and I wanted it to look as clean as possible. I still have a little space for some styling which works for me!
Now let’s talk about the cabinets!
Réno-Dépôt has an amazing line of cabinets right now called Eklipse. They’re amazing because they come fully assembled. That’s right- all you have to do is adjust the legs (which is very easy!) and fix to your wall. It’s really an simple way to get that perfect built in look but without that big price tag.
Can you use them anywhere?
Pretty much! You could totally do a kitchen with these cabinets but I’m loving all those spaces that you would want a built in look for and perhaps don’t want to invest in at the moment. Think organizing your garage, cabinets in the basement for your kid’s toys (I think this will be our next task!), or even adding cabinets to your laundry space.
Making them look custom:
They come in four different colors so you can really pick something that works with your space. It’s all in the details so I’d really pay attention to the hardware you pick as well! We picked ours up at Réno-Dépôt as well. They also sell toe kicks and extra panels so you can create that completely finished look. We have both the bottoms of the cabinets and the top panelled so that it looks custom. Personally I am not a fan of having a gap between the cabinets and your ceiling and this is really an easy solution.
Other things to keep in mind:
The cabinets are all made in Canada and are soft close.
You do have to make the holes for the hardware yourself- although that’s actually a benefit because you can literally pick any handle you want!
Our process:
We went with the grey colour which was the perfect shade if you ask me. I really wanted to do brass finishings and I love how it turned out. I knew we would be placing our iMac on the counter so we created a space just for that (and moved the plugs to be hidden exactly behind the computer!! Ara’s dream!)
While we could have potentially done something a little bit bigger, I think it ended up being the perfect size. It’s not overwhelming in our upstairs space and it just fits perfectly. Later I have plans to add a small area rug and perhaps a love seat and side table off to the side. We also purchased a white quartz countertop from a local retailer.
I grabbed one of my old office lamps that fit perfectly with the brass finishings, and got a few little accessories from a cute Canadian online shop called Rainsford Company. I couldn’t find a chair I loved quite yet, but we have two extra dining room chairs that we use for dinner parties, so I grabbed one of those. The neutral color worked perfectly with the grey! You can find our exact chairs here
I’ll keep you posted on Instagram as I add a few more personal touches to the space! In the meantime I’m currently in the process of moving all of my stuff from the old office to the new! I adore this cute little corner and already feel way more productive.
