Details and all the dreamy photos from our baby bash earlier this summer!
With baby boy’s arrival on the way, I had decided a while back that a traditional baby shower was not for me. There were quite a few aspects of the baby showers we know today that just don’t suit my personality and ultimately I decided to ask my family not to throw me one.
I did decide however to throw a little party of my own- a baby bash to be exact.
I wanted it to be a fun get together with our closest friends- nothing too crazy and not too many people. Just an intimate afternoon filled with lots of yummy food and drinks.
When I say yummy food- I mean it! Pretty much every detail I had in mind had to do with food in some capacity! Cookies, cake, gourmet sandwiches, mini sliders- even a pretzel bar. I wanted friends to leave with their stomachs full- in a good way!
And since blue is not my color of choice ( I think you guys know this by now), I decided to go with a neutral color palette. Some very muted blues mixed in with white, beige and some metallics. Add in some greens and you have yourself a party π
The whole thing turned out exactly how I envisioned it! And I’m so happy to have had it featured on Style Me Pretty Living recently as well!
I literally have 100 images that I’d love to share (thanks Lisa Renault Photographie for capturing it so well!) but to wrap things up a little quicker, I’ve decided to share some of my favourite elements with you!
Keep scrolling to see what they are and be prepared to get a little hungry- don’t say I didn’t warn you!!
And make sure to check out the SMP Living feature here!
Food
Food was definitely an important part of my party planning! Seeing as how I was about 8 months pregnant during the party, I smartly opted to hire a caterer! I went with Traiteur Brera here in Montreal and I could not be happier! They killed it- from the yummy sandwiches to the passed apps and the amazing pastas. Don’t tell Ara but I’m already thinking ahead to Baby Boy’s first birthday and think they need to be a part of it π BTW you can find them on Instagram here!
All the Dessert
What’s a party without dessert?! I wanted to serve everything and anything- I ended up having to tone it down (my idea of an ice cream truck sadly did not survive the budget cuts) and went with a dreamy Sweet Savour by Felicia, fun cookies and all the donuts! It was fun, yummy and just the right amount of sweet! I loved using personalized cookie bags as well to wrap up leftover cookies for our guests.
Dreamy Florals
Flowers were a must for me (obviously) and so I turned to my friends at Aura Design to help me out! They came up with some beautiful and dreamy white and green flowers that just fit perfectly! We also opted for a fun garland to put on top of our Welcome sign (designed by imaginejoy!).
I have to give a proper shout out to Aura Design because they always come up with the prettiest flowers that are always spot on! Make sure to follow them along on Instagram here for more floral inspo!
DIY Pretzel Bar
This was perhaps one of the funnest elements I dreamt up! After seeing quite a few different versions on Pinterest, I decided that we needed to have one! I teamed up with local Montreal bakery Bretzel et Compagnie for this idea and it quickly became the star of the party! Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing how to make one yourself a little later on!
Fun Cocktails
Because what’s a party without cocktails! We came up with a few signature cocktails with a little help from our friends at St-Germain! The St-Germain Cocktail is one of our favourites and it was served throughout the party to our guests. True story, they loved it so much that we went through all of the bottles π I love the idea of serving a signature cocktail because it makes the occasion a little more special! Plus it allows you to be a little bit more budget conscious with your bar offerings! I’ll be sharing the recipe for the St-Germain Cocktail as well next week so make sure to come back for that!!
Our Party Decor
Nearing the end of our party budget (oops) we opted to keep things simple with some simple balloons and some fun signage. Since the party was half outside and half inside, it was impossible to fully decorate both- so we really kept it simple! I loved our entry sign so much that it’s just hanging out in my office for the time being! And our Balloon Lounge balloons kept things playful and a little whimsical!

Hi! I am wanting to do a pretzel display for my wedding, but I canβt figure out how to keep the pretzels warm while being on the display! I have a display very similar to yours Do you have any tips for me?
G. says
Hi Alyssa!
We served them room temperature! It was summertime so we didn’t want them to be too hot anyways. Also the bakery had mentioned that the longer they sit out the harder they will get. So we waited till about 30 minutes before the guests arrived and then took them out. They were stored in a box prior! If they are fresh, they will taste amazing whether or not they are warm!!xx
