A few of my favourite pregnancy purchases from my second trimester. This post originally appeared in It’s a Sparkly Life and was published on week 23 of my pregnancy!
Tomorrow marks 23 weeks pregnant for this girl and I couldn’t be more excited. The first trimester went by so slowly but now? I feel like the weeks are flying by. While I’d like to say that I’m cool as a cucumber, I’m slowly starting to feel those nerves! Will the room be done in time? Am I going to be prepared?
With this being my first pregnancy, there’s a lot of things I’m learning and experiencing as I go along. I’ve made a few purchases so far, and I wanted to share them with you. From stretch mark prevention to comfy skinny jeans, I’ve got you covered!
Stretch Mark Cream:
Probably the first thing you think of buying when you’re pregnant, right!? I did quite a bit of research on the best stretch mark creams for pregnancy. And while sometimes stretch marks are inevitable, I heard amazing things about the Mama Mio line. Both from fellow bloggers, as well as friends. It’s a bit more expensive than your run of the mill cream, but here’s the catch. These products are all free of parabens and colorants and other ingredients you don’t want near baby!
I wanted to make sure the cream I was applying directly on my belly was not full of toxic ingredients and this one passes the test!
So far I’ve been using a mix of the Tummy Rub Oil and the Tummy Rub Butter on my stomach twice a day. I initially used it as a preventive method, but now it just feels so good on my skin, especially in the evening when it actually feels stretched out!
And as other parts of me are growing as well, I’ve recently started to use the Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube Bust Protection Cream. It reduces swelling and improves elasticity in the breast area- two things I didn’t think I needed help with before getting pregnant 😉
I’ll keep you guys posted as my pregnancy progresses and you can expect to hear more about the Mama Mio line and what I think of it! As of now I’m loving it and have no need for anything else!

Pregnancy pillow:
I’ve mentioned my love for my pillow before and I’m here to chat about it again because it’s so good. This pillow has served me well starting my first trimester, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be using it after pregnancy. You just really need the support while you sleep. And since you may wake up multiple times throughout the night to use the bathroom, comfort is king during pregnancy!!
Maternity Clothes
Ahh those dreaded words! A lot of women are vehemently against maternity clothes but I say why not! I’m all about things fitting me the right way so it made sense to just embrace it. Here are my two rules when purchasing clothing:
1. They should fit me throughout my entire pregnancy: This means things that are either stretchy in material or have a little room for me to grow into them.
2. They should be classic pieces: Classic pieces that I’ll be able to wear next time I’m pregnant as well. There’s no need to purchase on trend items that will literally only last you a little while.
My favourite pieces so far have been this 3/4 sleeve tee that I just ordered in a fifth color- yup, it’s that good! It’s stretchy, comfortable and a basic that I can wear with pretty much everything. (Seen below in the grey color)
I’m loving these white skinny jeans as well. I was hesitant to order them because I didn’t think white pants and pregnancy made the best pair- but they are super comfy. I’ll be wearing them all spring long.
I also love this button down shirt– it’s so classic and works well with skinny jeans and leggings. It makes me feel polished and will be a go to staple on an upcoming business trip. (Scroll up for a picture of me in it!)
And I’ve chatted about these Lululemon pants before as well- they’re non maternity so I’ll be able to wear them after pregnancy as well. They are so comfortable- I had heard they were a maternity must so I invested in two pairs and am not disappointed!
