Having people over is one of our favourite things to do and during the holidays it’s even more so! But this year we are taking it a little bit easier than usual. We want to enjoy Aren’s first holiday season to its fullest so it’s going to be all about easy and relaxed get-togethers with family and friends.
That doesn’t mean that I’m going to turn down the hostessing charm though! I’ll be turning to beautiful and easy ways to have guests over and still serve them delicious food.
I’ve always loved the idea of grazing boards so a dessert cheese board is right up my alley. Everyone indulges more in sweets during the holidays, right?!
This sweet and savory board is the perfect combo of cheese and dessert… it’s perfect for nibbling post dinner but also works just as well for a casual afternoon or evening get together with friends!
The star of the board? This Cranberry and Port topped Goat Cheese from Woolwich Dairy! It’s just the right balance of flavour and not to mention it looks gorgeous on a platter. It has the savory touch of a cheese but the perfect hint of sweetness. Best of all, the cheese does all the work for you! Just open the container, flip it over and serve!
I like to pair it with a couple other kinds of cheese (because who doesn’t love cheese!!) as well as a variety of sweets and fruit. Options are key when it comes to boards like this. You’ve got to make sure there’s something for everyone! We love the combo of the goat cheese with dessert items like biscotti and waffle cookies. Grapes and clementines freshen things up and chocolate covered anything is the perfect finishing touch.
Since this board takes all of ten minutes to put together, I love to whip up a quick little snack to serve with it. These bitesize Goat Cheese + Honey Puffs are seriously so easy to make and are ideal for all of your holiday get togethers. Read on for the recipe along with my full list of everything you need for the perfect cheese dessert board!
