27 weeks pregnant! A look at my pregnancy the last few weeks and where we stand heading into the third trimester
I can’t believe we are already in the third trimester! I feel like this whole pregnancy has been a state of disbelief. From having a surprise pregnancy when we thought IVF was our only option, to it quickly passing week by week.
I have so much to do still before baby boy comes but here’s where we are at so far:
Morning Sickness and other symptoms
Thankfully this finally wrapped up around week 25 or so. Finally, right?! It took way longer this time around than with Aren and I struggled with it a lot. Instead of being able to get stuff done around the house, or even just play with Aren, I spent a lot of time just trying to survive.
Baby boy is starting to really move in there too which I LOVE experiencing. To tell you the truth, it’s the only part of pregnancy that I enjoy. I adore feeling him kick.
And if you followed along last time, you’d remember that I had a lot of nosebleeds. I’ve had a few this time around in the recent weeks, but nothing compared to Aren’s pregnancy. I hope it stays this way because random daily nosebleeds are not fun.
Sleeping
Another one of those things that is so different from my first pregnancy! I was obsessed with my maternity pillow the first time- couldn’t have had a good nights sleep without it. Now? It bothers me and most nights ends up on the floor. So weird how our bodies are just different each time around.
Fatigue
I think I’m finally getting a second wind, however it is usually cut short by the 25 pound toddler I carry around 😉 But even if I’m extra tired, I just can’t stop holding him! I mean, he’s still a baby to me.
Weight Gain
I am gaining a bit more weight slowly but I believe that has to do more with my lifestyle. I really need to make it a point to get on the treadmill and walk! Last time around it was late spring by the time I hit my third trimester so we went for daily walks almost every day. Now it’s January, freezing and not the most ideal activity to do with Aren. I am going to make it a goal to walk on the treadmill and watch a show every night after he goes to bed. I think it will make a world of a difference.
Babymoon
If you follow along on Instagram you’d know that we just came back from a great Babymoon- and yes, we bought the little guy along! We went around 26/27 weeks, the same as we did when I was pregnant with Aren. For me it’s the perfect time because I am finally over the nausea and can eat dinner without feeling ill 😉 It’s also a great time because you’re not too big yet so the flight is fairly comfortable still.
Things on the horizon:
Now that we are through the holidays and our babymoon (which I’ll share more of soon!!), we are going to get serious about the nursery. This week I am finally posting all of our guest bedroom furniture over on marketplace – fingers crossed I can sell it, it’s Ara’s old bachelor furniture and I am so excited to see it go 😉 In a few years when we switch out the office for a guest bedroom I will thankfully get some new stuff! I am trying to finalize the pieces I want asap so I can get them ordered. And we are having someone come paint in the next week or two so the room has time to fully air out!
I’ve been banned from ordering any more baby furniture from Pottery Barn Kids (Aren’s set is from there and I adore it) but I’m loving this crib for Baby #2! It’s a little more modern than Aren’s classic nursery but since this is my last baby I want to have fun with the room!
Hoping that by the next update I’ll have ordered some furniture and gotten some organizing done for baby boy. Wish me luck! And if you wanted to see how pregnancies can really be so different, make sure to check out my 27 weeks pregnant update with Aren over here!
Ps if you’re looking for to shop local for your maternity clothes, I highly recommend Rose Maternité, a Montreal based company that has the cutest basics for the bump and for those nursing months after! They were kind enough to gift me some dresses and this Intrigue Dress is definitely my favourite!
