A few of the baby essentials that we are loving as we hit 1 month with Baby Aren!
Um can you believe that it’s already been 1 month since Baby Aren has arrived?! I certainly can’t!! I definitely took a few weeks off to enjoy all those newborn cuddles and to of course recover from a little thing called labour 😉 It was important for me to take that time given how hard it was for us to conceive little Aren.
But now that we’re hitting that one month point, I’m officially back on track. Expect lots of baby related and food related posts this month!
I’m also starting a new monthly series all about baby essentials that we’re loving! It’s important for me to really have had time to try these products out. How else can I tell you that it’s a must have!? I’ve had so many DM’s about products I’ve shared on stories that I’m excited to get this series up and running!
This month? I’ll be giving you all the details about a few things we’ve loved this first month: Our Bugaboo Cameleon, our DockATot, the diaper brand we’re loving and our favourite swaddles. I’m keeping it short and sweet this month because the learning curve is huge here with a newborn!
Read on for the deets!
First Month Baby Essentials:
Our must have stroller: The Bugaboo Cameleon
I’d like to say I spent hours researching strollers but I didn’t! I’ve always known that I’d want a Bugaboo when the time came along. Pretty much all of our friends have used them for their kids so I’ve seen firsthand how amazing they are! Sleek, modern and extremely functional!
I love that there are multiple stroller options within the brand. So something for everybody. We opted to go for the Cameleon. Light weight, perfect for all ages (just switch out the bassinet for the toddler seat!), and great wheels for tough terrains (but it also has small wheels for city living.)
They’re also customizable in terms of color, certain materials and add ons! We went with the Grey Melangé color because we would potentially like to have second child so the color seemed gender neutral.
The most important question of course is, does the baby like it!? And the answer is yes! We actually used the stroller as a napping station in the first weeks when we wanted to sit outside on our deck. And now? Well, he falls asleep almost instantaneously when in it- which as far as this mom is considered, means that the product is golden 😉 Jokes aside, what I love most is how easy it is to navigate around both city streets and rougher terrain. It’s a smooth ride- not something you usually describe a stroller as being!
I’ll be sharing our experiences with the Bugaboo Cameleon throughout the next several months so stay tuned!
The best baby lounger: The DockATot
Single handedly the most used baby item in our house (besides diapers!!) I’d heard a lot about the DockATot prior to baby boy’s arrival and let me tell you, the hype is real!!
Aren literally takes all of his naps on it, besides the ones he takes on us. I don’t think he would nearly sleep as well if we didn’t have it. It’s cozy and makes him feel comforted while he sleeps. It’s also super lightweight meaning I can grab it and place it anywhere I need- from the living room to the family room- even outside on the patio. It’s helped us not feel stuck in any particular room. And the cover is machine washable which is great with a newborn baby! We had one day that our cover had to be washed twice lol!
I’ve had people ask me if it’s worth it to purchase and my answer is an ecstatic yes! It’s so good you guys! You can find out more about DockATot products here.
Aren’s Diapers of choice : Pampers Pure
Ahh picking out the baby’s diapers! Such a hard decision to make, right?! I initially bought two different diaper brands, full well knowing that some babies don’t do well with certain diapers. Pampers Pure was one that I was hoping would be a good fit and thankfully it is! We’re flying through our newborn ones and will be changing things up to size 1 soon!
What I love most about them? There is 0% chlorine bleach, fragrance or parabens in them, meaning that they are a much safer choice for Aren’s skin. But they still have that Pampers guarantee of keeping him dry, which I love!! I’m also obsessed with the blue line that forms when the diaper is wet- so good!!
By the way, I have to add that this is not in any way sponsored by Pampers! I just love them so much! We have been ordering them online actually through Walmart’s Auto Save option which is saving us some extra dollars- key because diapers are expensive friends!!
Favourite Swaddles:
There are so so many swaddles out there these days- like so many! Being a first time mom, I of course bought way too many swaddles. Like most things, there are 3-4 that I keep coming back to. Which ones you ask? Our aden + anais ones. They’re lightweight and soft, the perfect size for making baby burritos (aka swaddling babies perfectly!!) and they’re just the prettiest. We’ve preferred them over most other brands and they are in particular amazing for this warm summer/early fall weather.
They’re also super breathable which is great for this mama’s sanity!
Stay tuned next month as I’ll be sharing our experiences with baby carriers, pacifiers and more!
