A little recap of everything that’s been going on around here!
It’s definitely been a while since we’ve checked in here and rightfully so. The last few months, particularly this last one have been pretty exhausting and I’ve been in the thick of it with all things motherhood.
I know that I am so lucky in that I am able to step away and prioritize my family time and my own mental health when things get too overwhelming. Not the best moves business wise, trust me I know, but always the best for my own sanity. And that’s just what’s been going on lately. And this last week? Ha! With Aren missing an entire week from school, Shiraz also being sick and Ara being out of town for four days, it was literally survival mode over here. Sweatpants, Uber Eats and Cocomelon reigned supreme.
I am finally getting out of it and I am so excited for what’s to come in the next little while. Both content wise and personally.
Here’s a little recap of what’s been going on and what’s on the horizon:
Kids
Aren is finally well situated at his new daycare (in case you missed it, his daycare transitions into a different building at age 3- new educators, directors and pretty much everything!)And Mr. Shiraz? Well he will be starting in three weeks as of tomorrow! He will be at Aren’s old daycare which I’m a little bummed out about as I thought the transition would be easier for him if he was with Aren. But regardless he’s starting and I am excited. If you remember, once Aren finished his transition, we were locked down with Covid and daycares across the country closed down. I literally haven’t had a full day to myself since July 2018 😉 Nervous about how Shiraz will do- but I’m excited to!
Vacation
Don’t want to jinx it, but we are potentially thinking of getting away in December. Long story short, we’ve been hesitant to book a trip because the kids would still have to stay home from daycare for 14 days. As strong as a person as I am, I cannot do another 14 day period alone with both kids home from school. I did it once and it was tough! They are just too close to age and still really young that I can’t give them the attention they need and everyone feels it.
This year Ara has quite some time off around the holidays so we would potentially be able to get away for 7 days and then he could be home to help me for at least 7 days of the ‘quarantine’ period. That would be amazing and it would mean we could be on a beach! Haven’t booked anything yet so fingers crossed! Have you travelled with kids recently!?
Home
We haven’t really had any home projects completed lately, totally my fault! Our fireplace project stalled a bit because of some dimension issues- we didn’t want to make our fireplace smaller but all the inserts that I kept seeing would end up reducing our viewing area given the general construction of the fireplace. Finally seem to be making some headway onto this project and I’ll keep you posted!
After Shiraz starts daycare I’m diving head first into the other decorating projects, mainly sourcing art and mirrors for our living room and dining room. I’m hoping to get this squared away before Christmas. And embarrassingly enough Shiraz’s room is barely decorated so I’m going to finish that up as well.
Ara is still working from home 3 days a week so he is still in the old office. I anticipate he will be there till after the winter- when he’s back full time we will transform that space back to a guest bedroom.
Random Thoughts
To be honest it’s been a very trying year for me, trying to juggle the kids, not see my own family back home and just not feeling the best emotionally.
I’ve had to take a huge break work wise which is hard to swallow- it’s tough to see your peers still excelling and moving forward when you’re literally just putting a huge pause on everything. I’m an ambitious person and having to put projects on the back burner has been tough! But I’m able to realize how lucky I am to be able to do that. Sometimes we have to pause a little and really put ourselves first, and that’s ok. I really needed to be able to focus on my kids and my family this last little while. Yes, I did feel immense guilt for taking such huge periods off of work- but I know it was necessary. Things are slowly starting to get back on track and I hope to share more fun news with you all soon!
As always, thanks for following along! We are shooting such fun fall content this week that I just can’t wait to share with you!
