And just like that it’s June although to be honest it definitely doesn’t feel like it quite here yet!
It feels like we’ve done nothing the last few weeks yet at the same time it also feels like there is so much going on.
May was a pretty big month in term of decisions for us as a family. We finalized all of our backyard plans, made tentative summer plans and picked some dates out for some fun celebrations that we’ll be hosting.
While we are a few days into June already, I know that the rest of the month is going to fly by.
Here is what we are up to!
Backyard Renovations:
Not sure if I officially announced it but we bought a pool! Well, we signed a contract and paid a deposit. We are currently waiting for our permit to come through (contract is contingent upon us getting that permit) but it’s exciting nonetheless. Our backyard is the last big piece of the puzzle for us here at home. We are fingers crossed putting in a pool, renovating our existing deck, adding a second deck and doing all new landscaping. Oh and putting in new fencing! It’s a huge project that we’ve waited to embark on until we were fully ready. Now we patiently sit tight and wait for the permit. Our pool company is pretty much ready to start digging as soon as we give them the go ahead and I am anxiously awaiting that moment when I can start to buy obnoxious pool floaties.
Ps we finally went ahead and purchased our Patio dining set. This week I will hopefully finalize a couch area as well as the lounge chairs! Oh and umbrellas and an area rug- there’s so much to buy!
Summer Plans:
Um pretty much just the pool. Do you guys know how much these things cost to put in!? You may remember we had contemplated going to Florida a few months back. Let’s just say that plan got put on hold as soon as we got estimates back from pool companies. We are looking to do a couple of mini road trips but that’s it.
I have some family coming to visit mid July so that should keep us busy as well. Ara and I have some tickets to some really fun shows coming up that we’re really excited about. Oh and Aren’s first birthday is under two months away! I am actually in the process of booking all my vendors. Because it’s going to be extra- like really extra.
And the rest:
It will be nice to just stay put for once this summer. We’ve always done big trips in the months of July-August. I’m excited to take it slow for once and relax- hopefully on my obnoxious pool float.
Life has been pretty exhausting. I knew motherhood was going to be tough but I didn’t expect this level of exhaustion. Technically I have *enough hours in the day to get some work done. But once Aren is asleep at 730 all I want to do is crawl into bed right after him! I am going to try to be better about maximizing my time during his naps but there’s so much to do! Between getting dinner ready, tidying up the house, working and trying to get a workout in- it’s almost impossible.
I finally feel like I am able to handle more and more in my day to day however and that is a breath of fresh air. Only took ten months but I’m finally there!
I look forward to bringing you guys so much fun stuff in the next few weeks. We have two big photo shoots booked to get the bulk of our summer content out and I am ecstatic at all the pretty things coming your way.
Stay tuned this month as we’ll be sharing a few more baby product reviews, a few amazing salads for BBQ season and some fun motherhood posts that are bound to make you laugh. I’m also so excited for some yummy popsicles that I’ve been perfecting to finally make their way up!
Thanks as always for following along.
Ps scroll on down for a few more photos of this dreamy family shoot we had the pleasure of taking with our dear friend Lisa Renault. I just love her photos (she’s responsible for most of the ones you’ll find here on This Life of Ours! ) and it’s also so much fun to do a family session!
