What we’ve been up to the last few months, why we took a break and what you can expect coming up!
Oh hello there! It has been a while!
Apologies are in order for it taking so long for me to get back on my feet and let you know what we’ve been up to.
Like most people, the last few months have been rough in many ways.
Once daycares closed up in March, I found it hard to keep up with both Aren and my work. I was 8-9 months pregnant with an active toddler and dealing with all the feelings of having a pregnancy during a pandemic. I definitely shed a few tears while I worked through it all.
On April 27th, we welcomed our new son Shiraz! I’ll be sharing his birth story later this week, so stay tuned for that!
But let’s just say adding a newborn to the toddler who was still at home made work impossible.
I’m a firm believer in the fact that my sanity and health of my family come above everything else- so a break was what worked out best for us.
In the last few months we’ve celebrated Aren’s second birthday, had a successful return to daycare and have slowly started potty training! I’ve been learning to manage my mom guilt (it doubled once Shiraz was born!!), and deal with a chaotic household. I somehow manage to do twice as much laundry as before and always try to spend a little one on one time with Ara! There aren’t enough hours in the day!
Life is hard. I’m not going to sugar coat it. Two under two was brutal for me. I was (And still am) exhausted most days. I never know which child to spend time with- I constantly feel like I’m letting one down while I’m with the other. Well, I’m slowly learning to get better at dealing with those feelings- I know they are both loved and that soon they will be BFFs. We’re almost there, I can feel it!
This was the first week in a long time that I felt like I could put aside time for work. Prioritize myself as an individual over my family. While I am starting off slow and steady, I hope to be back to blogging full time come mid fall. Ps I shared our favourite lettuce wraps a few days ago, did you catch them!?
Shiraz is finally on a solid three nap schedule and Aren is thriving at daycare. Ara is still working at home (thank god!) and that has been such a help. And in recent weeks my FIL has been amazing and has offered to pick Aren up from school a few days a week. Things are getting back on track.
Coming Up
What can you expect back here?! Definitely still loads of recipes and food content! That’s a given. And I think we are all gravitating towards that too as we all eat more at home.
In the near future I have some fun baby related posts coming up. Like I mentioned, I’ll be sharing Shiraz’s birth story finally, as well as some of our new fave baby items. There are some more nursery reveals on the horizon, and definitely some party ideas that fall into the category of ‘Covid friendly’. Thing individual party food ideas and smaller style gatherings. While I haven’t quite figured out what the holidays will look like, I do have some cute ideas for your little ones for Halloween! Things will definitely be different this year but that doesn’t mean the kiddos can’t have fun.
Hope you and your families have all been safe and healthy during the last few months! Thanks for stopping by and I promise you’ll be seeing a lot more of us!
